What Is a General Dentist?

As explained by the American Board of General Dentistry, a general dentist must successfully complete a post-doctoral residency in general dentistry or earn a Master’s Certificate from the Academy of General Dentistry. Can General Dentists Remove Wisdom Teeth?
In most cases, a general dentist can complete simple wisdom teeth extractions. However, more complex extractions that present complications may require an oral surgeon to perform the procedure. Your general dentist will refer you to an oral surgeon or other specialist when necessary.
